My Review….
I honestly enjoyed The East Palace and stayed hooked until the very end. For an eight-episode drama, it managed to tell an interesting and fairly complete story without feeling overly rushed. That said, I do think the build-up to the climax could have been stronger, and the constant push and pull between certain characters did not always work for me. The palace politics also left me feeling as though almost everyone inside the palace was corrupt, suspicious or outright evil, and that the entire place had been built on injustice, betrayal and the deaths of people who were supposed to be protected.
I understand that this may have been intentional, but it became a little exhausting after a while, especially when almost every character apart from the leads seemed untrustworthy. Still, despite these flaws, the drama kept me curious, maintained its mystery and delivered a satisfying ending overall. So, even though this wasnt the best story I have seen, it was decent for a one-time watch. So, if you enjoy palace politics in the backdrop of supernatural horror, then this could be a worthwhile watch. As usual, the decision to watch or not, is entirely upto you!
Story Line: 8.9/10
The originality of the plot: The plot is original and it’s a blend of costume and period and horror genres mixed with palace intrigue.
Acting of main protagonists: The chemistry between the leads builds very slow but works very well in the end.
Ending: Open Ended Happy
